Thanks Be To Skadi

Since that cold morning of my birth,
The only thing that found my worth,
More beautiful and fair than sun,
Was downy snow that fell to Earth.
When morning's light had nighttime shun,
Her beautiful work had been done.
I close my eyes to give my thanks
To know her reign now has begun
And when I run out to the banks
To watch her icy wondrous flanks
Descending from her winter keep
Displaying all known forms of swank
And every year, my heart will leap
From Skadi's gift with meaning deep
As I awaken from my sleep,
As I awaken from my sleep.
Author's Notes: SNOW DAY!!!!!!
Every year since I was born, the only "gift" I really wanted was for it to snow. There was a huge snowstorm last night and when I woke up, it looked so beautiful. So this is my thanks to Skadi and I'm prayig to her that this year, we finally get a white Christmas/Yule.
got the idea for the type of poem from Robert Frost's "Stopping By The Woods On A Snowy Evening" and the song "Sleep" by Eric Whitacre because they are both beautiful and the song was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw the snow.
PS, I know it's not winter yet, but it's coming close. ^_^ Oh, and happy early birthday to me.
