A Samhain Sonnet

The Brew of One
'Tween the dusk and dawn I am enamored
Stroking the ink-stained tell-tale-face of night
Silence falls though long I could have clamored
Conj'ring a slow-dance with the hidden light.
Spells they writhe, soul-serpents in the forest
Shadows they stream, new danger-ridden joy
Facing winds, they whisper bound before us
Creeping into the melodies employ -
All my fear, I am the One I suffered.
Life at last, its sorcerous tale renews.
In the cauldron, mingle feelings buffered
Concocting all the potency of views.
Death, no foe, eludes us at the buffer
Dead to life, I laugh, while living suffer.
