My Moon Heart Beats

So long ago I thought I can't
When moon is black recite the chant
Several times the creed I versed
Compelling change in the universe
The spell I lost within the wind
Until one day the grains of sand
Fumbled twisting in the path
Free in pure joy yet red as wrath
I lost my view in a bending daze
And followed you in the occult ways
The wind dies and you say the end
But I am your clinging moonburnt friend
So long ago the chant I lost
That at each moon returns to us
Some chant I knew but once before
Where lost friends crash upon lost shore...
I am the moon when it is black
My nameless orb keeps coming back
I am the light when dark is full
In the shadowed cheek of the raging star-bull
I am the wolf without retreat
Each spin around the earth, my heart-beat
I am the moon and then a sun
In the setting red when life is done
Just as fall dips the closing light
And the moon treads on the reddened bright
The last orb rising, that I am
In the dark flute from the horn of Pan
I am the grape where wine is strong
And the chord resolves the closing song
Many endings and deceits
Begin again as my moon-heart beats...
