SMOKE

Soon the sun rises in the east
As I sit here waiting for the light
Taking another drag of my cigarette
Blowing out the smoke of my life.
Contemplating what you feel for me
And what in the world really matters to me
For what is a life without acceptance
And what is acceptance without belief?
Belief that you are needed and wanted
By the person who bore you
Into this material state we call life
A life of acceptance, A life of belief.
Soon the sun rises in the east
As I sit here waiting for the light
Taking another drag of my cigarette
Blowing out the smoke of my life.
Wondering if you really love me
Or if I am just a tool you use
To keep your hand in play
While losing to the indifference of your environment.
An environment that pollutes my own
And yet is vital to its’ clarity
The clarity that all is well
In the smoke of our polluted world.
Soon the sun rises in the east
As I sit here waiting for the light
