Robbed in the Forest

Step after step, I feel the ground beneath my feet.
The aroma of burning sage smells oh so sweet.
Candles glow in the dead of night, burning tall and burning bright.
Melting wax falls to the ground, as shroude of night falls all around.
Shadows of mystery arive at the site, to aid me in this ancient rite.
In a place seperate from space and time, I say these words in spoken rhyme.
I wear this robe that cloaks me in this summer night.
The now full moon is my only light.
Oh she is so beautiful this evening, shining brilliantly in the starry sky.
I am staring straight into her eyes, so bright and perfect.
She is my mother, the one of these trees and this flame burning softly.
I am content and pleased with my work.
As the candles burn out, and the dawn brings the new day, I disappear with the shadows, and go away, hoping that tonight I shall live once again, robbed in the forest.

Author's Notes: The night that I wrote this poem I felt very content in my craft and I could just lightly hear the trees outside swaying back and forth. As I typed word after word, they seemed to just fall onto the page as if they were meant to be there.
I think that in short this poem best conects with the solitary Witch. The one who takes it upon themselves to practice alone, in the woods, after dark, and in a circle marked in the dirt. This poem truley represents the 'wild child' or the 'child of nature'.
