Cold Comet

Long open highway
No car but my own
No way but my way
So I travel alone
A long stretch of black
The night is my friend
---We dance together
And I never look back
----This is the end
Like a cold comet
Passing through time
flay down this highway
Destination unknown
Road life is hard
No time for family
If I play my cards right
Then I'll be where I wanna be
The stars are my guiding light
The moon's in my view
Wish I may, wish I might
Stop thinkin' about you
Those days are gone
Gone with the wind
Still I keep askin' myself
Will I see you again
---See you again
These wheels are rollin'
And so is my mind
No point in runnin'
No comfort I'll find
A long stretch of black
The night is my friend
---We dance together

Author's Notes: This was written when my bandmates and I took an 8 month break. One had just retired from the Marine Corps, and is now living in Dallas, GA. It was questionable if we were going to get back together and continue. We've been continuing to play and tour now for 10 years...
