A Beard of Snow

Age Group: Adult
Snow up past my boots,
up past my knees,
I walked alone.
Sky the color of snow,
air the color of snow,
becoming the color of snow.
Blind from the snow,
blind from the cold,
blind in my soul
I walked alone.
Finding a tree,
that is where I rested.
Back against the tree
I rested.
An evergreen bowed heavy in the white blanket,
under it I rested.
After a time I heard a rustle
a scritch and a scamper,
after a time,
a felt a nuzzle
looked into the face of a great ram,
a huge ram,
a mighty ram
with a beard of snow
and eyes of smouldering coals.
I got on my knees,
it lowered it's head.
I backed up,
it backed up,
we backed up,
and ran.
Heads colliding in a mighty crash,
brain exploding into a thousand little pinpoints,
gallexies of stars exploding,
milky ways pouring from my ears.
Then I ran through the snow,
I danced through the snow,
I pranced through the snow,
with a beard of snow
and eyes of smouldering coals.
.....Wolfie......
Author's Notes: A few weeks back, this was my dream. Dreams translate so well into poetry, and poetry so well into dreams because the lines between the two are so very thin...
