She is Torn
by Wolfie
Age Group: Adult
She is torn,
she is tattered,
she is caged,
burried in concrete,
dipped in asphalt.
She is torn open wide,
her veins are sliced to the bone
and sucked dry.
She is auctioned off,
she is sold.
She is alone,
she is frightened,
she is angry
and she is ill.
She cries to her love,
she cries to the sky,
she speaks of her torment,
she speaks of her pain.
The sky listens,
he hears,
he is not frightened,
he is angry.
He speaks to their children
he screams at their children,
he warns their children,
he strikes their children.
They do not hear,
they do not see,
they do no feel.
They say to the sky,
Father why are you angry?
They say to the earth,
Mother, why are you ill?
They grow fat from her blood,
spill it in her deep waters,
they cover her eyes in pitch and tar,
and her mouth in poison.
He reaches for his love,
She reaches for her love,
they embrace in the black dawn
loving under the moon
that is a scarlet fire
to light the path
for those that did see,
for those that did hear,
for those that do care.
A scarlet fire lighting the path
to the new dawn.
