The Angry Tree Song (a thousand thousand years)

the dew is on the web
the web is on the tree
the tree is over me
the tree is under me
a whisper in the leaves
a whisper in the leaves
that says
my people lived
for a thousand thousand years
a thousand thousand years
a thousand thousand tears.
we give you life
you bring us death
we give you food
are left bereft
you take shelter in our bones.
when I call out on the wind
when I sing out on the storm
our voices once were a
thousand thousand strong
a thousand thousand strong
now there's a thousand thousand gone.
your cities are our graveyards
our metal tomb.
but great trees fall in mighty winds
and cities fall too
in time cities fall too.
in time all things fall
all things fall in time.
my people have lived
for a thousand thousand years,
for a thousand thousand years
a thousand thousand tears.
We will raise like a flower
we will raise like a messiah
we will raise when people fall
we will raise tall when people fall
we will touch the sky when people fall
and they are falling like leaves
like leaves in a mighty wind
a great wind.
There will be no one to trap us
no one to tame us
no one to cut us
to pluck us to maim us.

Author's Notes: can't fully explain this one. After a lovely peacefull dream of walking through a forest of snow covered trees I woke up with this song stuck firmly in my head. All I did was write it down...
