Dawn

There is a place where water runs backwards.
rainbows swim upstream
kittens play on riverbanks
couples waltz at sunset.
the water is a painters' palette,
colors swirl and billow.
reds, greens, and regal purple
form an abstract picture
in a painter's eye.
cotten candy
floats in sky blue well,
and moons don't sleep at dawn.
songbirds play their music
and pleasant notes
drift in the breeze.
rain tastes like bubble gum
and angel cake,
on Spring afternoons.
Moss carpets the riverbank,
a soft blanket to lay upon
and count shooting stars.
A merry place it is,
where rivers run backwards
and moons,
don't sleep at dawn.
