Life's Ice Cream
by Faerie Psyren
Age Group: Adult
a sad happiness arises,
whilst sitting on a park bench
watching the little complexities that make us human
weave tales of long days and
ice cream cones.
a superstitious man
won't walk under ladders,
a child trips over his laces
trying to scare pigeons,
young women flip their hair
wishing they were prettier.
a mother holds her son's hand
tighter as they cross the street,
a businessman washes his car
decked toe to hair in fashion
before a big meeting,
actors practice lines
when the sign says "Don't Walk."
the hum drum
seems Intricate, special,
a sad happiness
darkens the park
and ice cream melts on sidewalks.
that’s how life goes on
