The Mist

I waded through the fog,
Where I was I could not tell.
Through the fog came a peircing sound,
It was the ring, ring, ringing of a bell.
I followed the sound,
through hill and dale.
It was coming from atop a mound,
surrounded by a grove.
I found a path laid in stones,
Step after step I climbed the hill.
Atop was a grove litered with bones,
Wooden figures stood in the fog like gods.
I walked through the mist and trees,
In the center stood a figure.
A skeleton robed in burlap with a hammer,
He struck, struck, struck the bell.
I started to hear the voices in my head,
The voices of the unborn, living, and dead.
They were all white noise,
Like one voice in my head.
He turned and pointed at me,
and then I fell.
All I could see was the fog,
And all I heard was the ring, ring, ringing of the bell.
