Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter
All stages of Earth's life.
Spring comes first,
She is born from the ashes,
Rising from the deep soil.
Pale green buds bloom,
Before our eyes.
She is a child
Growing up too fast,
In a world that is changing.
She learns plenty in a short time,
Knowing that others are there
To catch her.
Then comes Summer,
Earth's second stage.
She is a young adult,
Disobeying the weather,
Changing it at her will.
When the days are sultry and hot
Her temper is at end.
When rain pours and drizzle
She is down.
This stage she thrives,
And becomes complete in life.
Many friends abound,
Surrounding her endlessly.
Then comes Fall,
Earth's most beautiful stage.
She has now reached an age of fragility.
Her hair and fingers break
At the slightest touch of the wind.
She has become
An old woman.
Careful of each step she takes.
Skin turning brown and dry with time.
When Winter finally comes,
Earth knows it's time.
She now lies
On her death bed.
Nothing moves,
Nothing disturbes her.
The winds bring great clouds,
Full of snow and ice
To cover her like a blanket.
When the snows finally fall
She dies
Leaves no longer hang,
Grass no longer sways,
Everything is still,
Mourning her passing.
But they,
Those who do live on
Wait for her resurrection.
Waiting for a new beginning.
Starting from the ashes,
Rising from the deep soil.
