Witchcraft Outlawed

When the sun is set and the evening air cool
We witches dance under a moon so full
Honour the Goddess and crave a boon
Knowing that it will be fulfilled soon
But those sans witch knowledge in their head
Fear and hate us with the lies they that are fed
Even though we cure them when they are sad or ill
A great fear of us remains in their minds still
“Outlaw witchcraft and kill the witches” they cry
We reel with surprise and shock, asking “why”?
While Jew and Arab war and bicker
We follow the loving path of Wicca
Can people not get it into their mind
That we serve the Gods and mankind
Our path not easy and with obstacles fraught
Knowledge is gleaned but always more is sought
Magick and gifts we are prepared to share
That our efforts are cursed is not fair
Is it because their God is a God of war
And our perfect balance made his ego sore?

Author's Notes: In South Africa we have enjoyed racial, political, sexual and religious freedom. Last week one of our provinces (states) has proposed a law to outlaw witchcraft!! We are fighting this legally and some energy to assist would be very welcome
