The Day and The Season

On a hot day to sit in the warm sun
And watch insects across the water run
To sit with my bare feet in a little stream
Relaxing the mind and body and just dream
The sun on my back and the cool water on my skin
Tis absolute bliss and the greatest pleasure I’ve seen
As the sun dips and the shadows begin to lengthen
My imagination soars and my dreams all strengthen
The birth and death of the day seems so natural and right
For the day’s death is the birth of the wondrous night
And so it is with the eternal wheel of the season
The birth and death of summer has a definite reason
The warm tranquil days of summer slip away
And are replaced by a much fresher cooler day
The powerful summer sun with all of its heat
Dies and gives way to a vibrant winter sleet
And all is always in perfect balance and it is right
For this equilibrium is controlled by the Gods’ might
So love nature and the seasons with all of your heart
And know that there must always be an end before a start
Author's Notes: In the soutern hemisphere we have just had Mabon and am looking forward to autumn
