Which was is and shall be

I was alone during the long dark night
Then I found a lady who seemed just right
Love bloomed and we were to be hand fasted.
But alas the engagement never lasted
My past brought joy and I loved to reminisce
Her past was as cold and dark as an abyss
My keepsakes, my little bits of treasure
Were reminders of times filled with pleasure
They reminded her of things she would forget
As she was not over her painful past yet
Now my treatment is uplifting and ongoing
My psychologist is kind and has a smile of knowing
Confidence is returning to me and is growing
Sometimes sadness around the corner does lurk
But then I get busy and bury myself in my work
Forgetfulness in the weariness of toil is a real perk
To the Goddess I have given my life and soul to own
With her at my side I will walk this life alone
I will not weep or be bitter even for awhile
For I am blessed by her beautiful loving smile
Greater than the love of any mortal woman can be
Is the love, the gifts and the blessings given to me.
