Shop Profile: Shadows and Light Shoppe continues to carry a wide selection of Neo-Pagan/Wiccan altar tools: clothes, athames, wands, chalices, cauldrons, bowls for salt and water, altar patens, and candles. Our books selection focuses on the immediate and advanced practitioners of earth-based religions, ceremonial magick, and spellbooks. I try to keep books in stock on all paths and working with the deities of all pantheons. I am always ready to track down hard to find items for you!!
In addition, Shadows and Light does support folk magick indigenous to New Orleans. Unlike many magickal stores, we support spell items needed for Christian Witchery, Hoodoo, and Folk Catholicism. Unlike Haitian Vodun or Cuban Santeria, Hoodoo is not a religion - it is a magickal practice. Instead it is a form of natural alchemy incorporating herbs, roots, and oils. Jar candles, figure candles, and cleansing baths also play a major role in Hoodoo. Like traditional Witchcraft, it focuses on personal power and the living spiritual power contained within herbs, oils, crystal, roots, and metals when combined to bring about the desired effect.
New Orleans Voodoo is a culmination of the Afro-Caribbean religions Santeria and Vodun, Native American folk magick, European Ceremonial Magick and Catholicism. We are striving to stock products needed for your work with the Loa, the Orisha, and the Saints. Please let us know your specific needs and we will special order these items for you immediately.
