Call First: Over the Past 8 Years Witchvox has featured over 2.000 local shops. During that time ONLY 3 shops have informed us that they were closed, hundreds never bothered, much to the frustration of customers that drove to the shop only to find it 'out of business'... We highly recommend that you CALL Local shop listings before you make the trip. - Witchvox Staff

Mercury Cafe A WitchVox Sponsor
Proprietor: Marilyn Megenity
Telephone: (303-) 294-9281
Located in: Denver, Colorado
Shop Profile: The Mercury Cafe is a local and international legend. This exploration of food, and the arts, politics, spirit and community that surround food began on the Ides of March, 1975 in Indian Hills, Colorado. After several incarnations in Denver, we settled here in the center of town, opening on Samhain, 1990.
The Mercury Cafe specializes in Organic Colorado Cuisine, Community Theatre, and Community Dancing. We also host poetry readings and political films, biodiesel info-meetings, and have classes — belly dance, tango, swing, yoga, lindy, capoiera — most nights of the week in our large upstairs hall. There's plenty of live music, too. A portion of our energy is provided by windmills and solar panels on the cafe's roof. And, yes, we're pagan owned and operated.
FOOD: Supper is served Tuesday through Sunday, 5:30 pm 'til 11 pm. Dessert, coffee and bar service run later. Brunch and lunch are served on Saturday and Sunday The cafe is closed on Mondays
We make all our bread and pastries using whole grains, natural sweeteners, and cold pressed oils, and our salt comes from the sea. If a dish's description doesn't say otherwise, it means vegetarian. We have a full bar and, in the interest a sustainable environment and economy, we feature neighborhood small-brewery beers, Colorado wines, and organic and organic/biodynamic wines.
The Chef is resolved to buy food as close to home as possible. "Thank you!" to our conscious Colorado purveyors: Monroe Organic Farm, Grower’s Organics, Rainbow, Willow River Cheese, Organic Valley, Federal Devries Chocolate, Colorado Elk and Game, Campbell Hansmire Sheep, Alamosa Striped Bass, Cline Trout, and Redbird. Our Elk and Lamb have only been fed their mother’s milk, the grass on the mountain, and forest forage. Our chocolate and coffee come from Free Trade sources and are delicious. ORGANIC FOOD IS YOUR BIRTHRIGHT! This is REAL food, from the superb ingredients Mother Earth creates.
