Shop Profile: Talisman is a shop offering unique artifacts and objects, both newly-made and vintage, all of a spiritual/mystical/magickal nature from around the world, throughout the ages.
Talisman is a place where people can meet and gather to discuss ideas and issues concerning aspects of their personal beliefs without fear of ridicule or judgment. We will offer opportunities to experience various truths and healings through diverse personal spiritual experiences.
Talisman chooses to take a lighter-hearted (but always respectful) view of death and theology. Death is the great equalizer - inevitable and impending, it affects us all regardless of race, creed or social standing. Mourning is certainly acceptable and understandable, but dread may be alleviated through humor and an open mind. We love "Day of the Dead" at Talisman!
We anticipate that individuals who find their way to Talisman will share a common view that all life is sacred and will hold respect, if not reverence, for the natural world we all share. In addition, Talisman holds dear the belief that children, animals and our own Mother Earth must be protected and nurtured.
Store owner Laura Lenhard grew up in Southern California in a family very open to the metaphysical world. Talisman is the culmination of a decades-long dream of owning a store dedicated to the concept of Universal Spirituality and filled with the things and people that she loves. Everything in Talisman is handmade and/or is bought from vendors adhering to the Fair Trade Act. Local craftspeople are invited to come in and "share their wares" - we do not consign but prefer to purchase for resale, provided items fit within our magickal/spiritual/natural theme.

Note: I realize my hours are odd - being closed mid-day allows me to run home, meet school buses (I have 4 children!) start homework/dinner - husband Roy arrives home from work and takes over the homefront, and I rush back to the store ... ! Doesn't it sound more refined to simply say we keep "European Hours" ?
