Harp Teacher

Skill/Service Details: I am a teacher of lever (Celtic, folk) and early harp.
I have been a professional musician for 19 years and have taught harp for 15 years.
I focus on a non-classical technique suited to folk and early harps.
My process is to assist you in allowing your harp to teach you how to play it!
I work with eyes closed playing, memorization, pieces as exercises, and improvisation/composition.
A knowledge of reading music is helpful though not necessary (I can teach basics as you progress) .
Must have own harp!
Very willing to assist in the process of obtaining a harp: harp kits, lap harps, Canadian makers. (Note: I would never recommend a harp from Pakistan even though they seem pretty and are very inexpensive: they have a plywood sound board and useless levers and poor sound. They are NOT a good instrument or investment)
Rates: My fee is $40 per lesson (60 minutes) at my home in Courtenay. I can teach at your house for an additional travel fee. Contact me directly regarding specifics.
