Herbal Workshops and Classes

Skill/Service Details: In our search for herbs containing medicinal or magickal properties, we often rely on purchasing pre-packaged products. Sometimes fresh herbs are more desirable, but where do you find them?
We go as a small group and explore the wild recesses of area parks, identifying herbs in their natural environment.
During the workshop, people will have a chance to learn the botanical and common name of native plants, how to identify them, proper collection techniques of different species, and how to dry and store their herbs at home.
The instructor and guide Morgaine Treewalker, studies herbal pharmacology and uses herbal remedies on a daily basis. She collects wild herbs regularly and also has an extensive herb garden at her house. Past member of the Arkansas Herb Society and Greenhouse Growers Association, she is currently licensed by the Arkansas State Plant Board, an Arkansas Certified Nurseryman, Master Gardener and a member of the Arkansas Turf Grass Association. For the past 20 years, she has worked in landscape design, planting and maintenance. She has worked for a local Parks Department for 11 years and is currently a supervisor in the Landscape Division. She managed and operated a municipal greenhouse for 9 years before it’s removal in 2001.
