Goddess Groove classes/workshops

Offered by: Carrie Konyha

Located in: Sedona, Arizona

Skill/Service Details: Goddess Groove™ is a holisic & meditative healing dance practice experienced as an eternally cyclic path of self discovery, awakening & expression that leads to increased self healing, self empowerment, self love, spiritual awakeness & holistic vibrancy.

Inspired by the worlds most ancient & sacred feminine dance practices, Goddess Groove ™ is rooted in the ancient, organic, feminine movements of bellydance & blended with yogic meditation practices with a focus on esoteric principles of spiritual alchemy.

Goddess Groove™ is practiced as a form of moving meditation, embodied prayer, holistic fitness & as a medium for spiritual path working. It embraces the sacred and encourages self discovery, growth and empowerment though conscious movement exploration.

Goddess Groove Technique ™ involves exploring the use of organic bellydance movement & meditation as a tool for awakening to our authentic selves for the purpose of creating and maintaining holistic wellness. We delightfully explore sensual dance movement as a medium for awakening the divine feminine within ourselves, enhancing our spiritual connection, personal empowement & creative expression.

What happens in class?
Goddess Groove™ classes consist of lessons in ancient sacred feminine bellydance movement technique with a focus on the esoteric aspects of our dance practice, combined with experiential guided dance explorations & meditations that serve as catalysts for achieving increased body awareness, holistic wellness, spiritual awakening & personal healing. This gentle guidance enables students to unfurl at their own pace in a supportive environment. We also do ‘circle dances’ to provide a space for each participant to discover & express their own unique spark of the divine feminine.

We learn yogic principles relevant to dance meditation practices such as pranayama -learning to circulate your life force energy through your body with the conscious use of breath. We also learn about the Energy anatomy of the body including the chakras, the subtle bodies (aura) and how to channel divine energy through us using breath & dance movement for increased vitality, creativity, healing, personal empowerment & holistic wellness. This is the yoga of dance.

Spring, Summer, Fall & Winter each have their own energies & gifts to offer. The Goddess Groove syllabus takes this into consideration and offers the teaching of dance practices that can be experienced in accordance to the energies of each season (including solar & lunar influences) so that we learn & experience the value of aligning our personal energies with the natural rhythms & cycles of nature as we are developing our healing dance practice.

Although workshop participants can learn the basics of the practice within a few workshops, for those choosing a more immersive path, it takes 1 full year of training to experience the full spectrum of the Goddess Groove™ practice. This can be achieve by taking seasonal workshops & delving into your practice on your own in between programs.

Practitioners of the Goddess Groove™ become eligible for teacher training after completing 2 full year cycles of Goddess Groove practice (through classes, immersion retreats & personal practice) and have acquired a minimum of two years of additional training in hatha yoga & bellydance technique (must provide proof of training) . Those interested in teacher training are required to keep a log/journal of their Goddess Groove private practice sessions & of their experiences with classes/retreats. If you think you might be interested in teacher training, its a good idea to start your log with your first classes.

Rates: Local classes in Sedona $14 drop in, Introductory workshops $35 per person, Weekend retreats $350 per person, Private Goddess Groove session $60 per hour
