Shamanic healing

Offered by: Emma

Located in: Denver, Colorado
Skill/Service Details: ABOUT OUGURE Q. What exactly do you do? A. I have been a practicing shaman since 2000, and began healing in 2002. I work from a treatment room in my home in northwest Denver. The healing occurs by the manipulation of an energy called miwi ("mee-wee") . Miwi is analogous to a fire in the body which consumes from the outside to produce from within. A weakness or excess of this energy and its associated processes manifests in emotional or physical dysfunction. As foreign as the concepts behind Ougure may seem, they are a part of everything living, including you. Many people tell me they feel as though they knew about it already, that it just didn't have a name. Q. What can Ougure help? A. Stress and fear, emotional pain (especially due to loss) , unsettling dreams or nightmares, depression, confusion, pain, fatigue, changing or "wandering" pain, continuing vague or hard-to-describe symptoms, as a supplement to medical care. Different forms of healing affect people in different ways. I believe those attracted to Ougure are those who will benefit most from its effects. Q. How do you pronounce it? A. “Oh-goo-ray”. Ouguré means, “don’t be afraid.” Shamanism is, at its core, an exploration of fear. The context of the word Ouguré is not reassurance, but rather a statement of our potential to know ourselves. When we know our own nature, good and bad, beautiful and ugly, then we no longer have anything to fear. Ouguré is the greatest – and only – power we really have, and it is also the name of the method I use to heal. Q. What services do you offer? A. In a case where the real root of an issue has yet to be identified, I offer card readings. The deck I prefer is an animal deck called “The Druid Animal Oracle, ” which is widely available at bookstores. I chose this deck not for its Druidic connections, but because it represented the widest variety of animals I could find. I do not use the interpretations of the cards recommended by the publishers. In a case where the root of the issue is physical, I offer a unique style of energetic healing to strengthen the patient’s own ability to heal him/herself. In more complex cases, I offer guided meditations based on inner exploration and contact with animal spirits. Q. What can I expect when I come for treatment? A. First and foremost, you can expect complete professionalism and confidentiality, and an easy-to-understand method with a friendly, down-to-earth practitioner. (You will not be doctored by someone in a weird costume in a dank room full of mysterious concoctions!) Every effort is made to preserve the patient's comfort level while treatment is taking place. Every case is different. For some people, a simple hour-long visit to the treatment room and a cup of tea is enough to affect a change in their lives. Your healing begins the moment you enter the treatment room, because of the energies which are cultivated and perpetuated here. The vast majority of cases, however, require a hands-on energy manipulation, which may last from 15 to 30 minutes. Your first visit will be mostly an exploration of your issues and their sources, and your goals for treatment. Depending on your needs and preferences, we may do a card reading, a healing, or a brief meditation. Subsequent visits will explore the depths of the issue, with the aim of increasing your personal ability to heal. Your treatments will be entirely customized to your needs, concerns, and goals. Q. What tools do you use? A. Not many. Obviously, the cards are required for a card reading. For healing and meditations, tools are unnecessary. I do recommend, however, that YOU bring a notebook and pen.
ABOUT SHAMANISM Q. What exactly is a shaman? A. That’s a very involved subject. Very briefly, “shamanism” is a term that’s used to describe an ancient mysticism (not a religion!) based on ecstatic techniques, or ways of being carried “out of” or “beyond” oneself. Shamanic practice is as old as humanity itself, and integrated into the human consciousness. In some people, the dormant shaman is awakened, and their reality is changed forever. Q. What do shamans do? A. Shamans have job descriptions that may include mediator between humans and gods or spirits, medicine man, wise man, law-keeper, historian, magician, psychopomp, priest, and artist. A shaman may be all, some, or none of these. Shamans are defined primarily by the fact that they live in more than one world at once, and by giving preference to none of them, they gain access to the sacred webs that underlie those worlds. Because shamanism is not a religious system, it has no dogma, no pantheon, no text, no code of conduct. It is widely misunderstood in the world today, and I encourage you to learn more about it from reputable sources! Q. What is meant by the “universalism” of shamanism? A. What we know about the ancient and primary practices of shamanism we have learned from anthropologists and archaeologists. One of the most remarkable things they have discovered is that the themes of shamanism are universal – that is, the underlying principles, ceremonies, and practices appear virtually the same, masked with some predictable cultural variation, in all cultures in which they are studied. This suggests a psychological connection that links all humans, past, present, and future. Q. What do you mean by “shamanism is an exploration of fear”? A. A shaman’s ecstatic techniques carry her beyond herself by carrying her within. By accessing the universality of the human psyche, the shaman effectively connects herself to the psyche of all mankind, and comes to a place where reality flexes and bends. But there are formidable barriers between her and her goal, and many of those barriers are fears which live in her own unconscious and in the collective unconscious. To become a shaman, one must become completely intimate with – and accept and love – one’s own greatest fears and the fears that live in all humans. I welcome and encourage any questions you have. The more involved you are in your treatment, the more effective it will be!!
