Animal Reiki can be used for all types of illnesses and injuries in animals and is especially soothing and comforting to animals that are nervous, fearful, in pain, or having difficulty recuperating from surgery. Also, animals too afraid to be touched, unable to be moved, aggressive, or wild, can be treated as effectively from a distance using "distant healing". The healer is a transmitter of healing energy to which animals respond amazingly well and faster than humans. Our pets live in the moment, they have no preconceived notions to get over. They understand healing energy and its benefits immediately, some will actually come looking for it.
Most animals relax during a Reiki treatment, allowing the
energy to flow. Some fall asleep while younger animals may become playful. Others show their gratitude by wagging their tail, licking or purring. Animals often show me exactly where to place my hands by moving around during treatment. Occasionally an animal may refuse treatment. I will always honor the animal’s request to receive or not receive Reiki.
Distance sessions are also effective, as energy transcends time and distance. All life is interconnected through energy and can affect another being through conscious intention. I can facilitate Reiki through clear intentions toward the animal from anywhere, usually through meditation, by setting the sessions’ intention for a specific animal or group of animals such as farm or shelter animals.
