Skill/Service Details: The sense of smell is the fastest sense to trigger emotion; smells are received and processed by the limbic system in the brain, the oldest part of our brain which deals with memory, learning, and sexual impulses. “The limbic system is directly connected to the parts of the brain that control heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, memory, stress levels, and hormone balance" (“The Hidden Energies Behind Feng Shui”, James Loretta. Even without massage or other treatments, just the smell of lavender flowers or Mom’s home-made cookies can calm us or make us homesick almost immediately. Inhaling the aromas of essential oils do more than just trigger memories, they also have a profound effect on the brain, and thus the body. They can raise or lower blood pressure, stimulate the nervous system, or soothe the digestive system. If you’ve ever smelled Eucalyptus when stuffed up wit a cold, or drunk mint teat when you have an upset stomach, you have benefited from essential oils.
Studies have shown that using essential oils can improve learning, help to speed healing, lower blood pressure, relieve stress, and even improve immunity. “Remembering that the paradigm of Chinese Medicine is one that sees disease as linked to the emotions, it stands to reason that if odors can influence emotion, then they are powerful adjustments for healing” (The Hidden Energies Behind Feng Shui) .
I come from a background of Chinese Medicinal & Wiccan training, and I blend these two seeming opposites by using essential oils on the acupuncture meridians and points to create the desired effect (such as cure nausea or indigestion, calm the mind, relax the body, etc) .
Aromatherapy can be in addition to a Reiki treatment, or it can be its own session. It may include facial massage or other gentle massage using essential oils. I will make a custom blend to use on you, and it's yours to keep afterwards. Please see my website for more information.
Rates: Customized Products:, Price depends on the oils used. I make bath salts, perfumes, oil diffusers, scented lotions and oils, and facial toner. In general prices range from $10-50., There is a no charge for Aromatherapy if you receive a treatment from me (so it is free to add Aromatherapy to your Reiki sessions!)
