Skill/Service Details: I have over 12 years of experience as a singer, with both classical and contemporary training. I've taught adult and adolescent classes through parks and recreation, and taught private lessons for all ages as well. I am a professional and casual storyteller with a Masters in Folklore in progress, with specific concentration in applied storytelling as a healing and community-building tool.
Singing:
My techniques and approach to voice embrace all musical genres, and go far beyond the conservatory-type approach. Because the voice and breath are the most natural instruments we have, singing with confidence and for pleasure is one of the most exhilarating and healing abilities a person can have!
I approach the voice with this understanding of developing a spiritual tool, not just an artistic one. I especially enjoy working with beginning singers, or those who have been taught to believe they have no ability. Come give it a try! Learn to sing confidently at your next social gathering, with others, or even solo. Most importantly, learn to sing for yourself, having discovered the voice of power you always had.
Storytelling:
The power of story is phenomenal because the healing happens both for the teller in her crafting and discovery process, and the listener who brings attention and in-the-moment energy to the journey. You decide what you’d like to work on, and we’ll come up with a group of sessions that are fun, empowering, and unforgettable. Singing and storytelling belong to all of us by right of our ancestors in every culture; reclaim your voice and imagination!
Rates: Lessons are for adults or kids ages 9 up. Kids must demonstrate personal interest in singing or storytelling. Lessons are tailored to the intensity you prefer; rates starting at $30/hour and can be negotiated based on your interests. Trial lessons available; call for more information!
