One must stand for something or fall for anything. There are those who struggle to express their Love on a day to day basis. There are those who are denied the human right to Love whom they will openly, honored by the entire human community.
In 1967 it was still illegal for black and white individuals to marry in nearly 20 US States. This means that President-Elect, Barack Obama (a exciting historic figure) had his parents barred from marriage. Before that, slaves were not allowed to have their marriages sanctioned.
With the matter of same-gender marriage the issues are much the same. These are guaranteed rights sanctioned by the Constitution of the United States are not up to a vote of the people to support or deter. There is supposed to be a separation of Church and State, and cults like the Mormans have no right to demand their congregants send money out of their home state to another State to support a ban on freedom. Cults like the Mormons should have their not-for-profit church status revoked.
It is now my postion, doing the right thing, to refuse to conduct marriages of any nature for any persons until such a time that all people are allowed to publicly express their Love for one another, and to have that Love legally recognized. Domestic Partherships, in states that have used them have demonstrated that anything less than marriage will not do. Separate is NOT equal - didn't we already know this?
Why are some people still left to be second class citizens.
Redefine marriage? Charlemagne was married five times in his lifetime and had several concubines in and around the year 800 of the christian era. Marriage as we know it, and others wish to preserve, is an invesntion, especially when the Church once practiced same-sex marriages.
