Skill/Service Details: I'm in the process of taking over my family day care in Springfield, and moving things toward a more earth-based curriculum. The day care itself has been in operation and in the family for more than 50 years, Up until now, my step mother and her mother have been running the business, but I feel that the time has come for a few changes.
As the helm is being passed on to me, I feel a responsibility to create and environment that not only continues the tradition of learning and fun, but move toward being certified as a "Green Day Care" and put more of an emphasis on natural living, respect for the earth, and observation of the Wheel of the Year. I am also working toward converting to a vegetarian menu, although any special diets will, of course, be honored.
We are licensed to accept children between the ages of 12 months and 10 years old and are open from 7am-5:30pm, Monday-Friday. Breakfast, lunch, and 3 healthy snacks will be provided, as well as plenty of opportunities to learn, play, and grow in a safe and loving environment.
This is a wonderful opportunity to prepare your pre-schooler for kindergarten.
In addition to working at the day care, I spent 4 1/2 years as a private nanny, and 2 years as a Gymboree Play Teacher. I hold a BS in child and adolescent studies with a minor in psychology, and am certified in early childhood education.
Rates: Rates will vary depending on age of the child and whether you require part-time or full-time enrollment.
