Skill/Service Details: As a practicing pagan, I know that it is sometimes difficult to really open up about my religious beliefs or spiritual experiences. People either do not take my beliefs seriously or consider me to be an evil person. Though therapists are trained to be open to other cultures and belief systems, paganism is still foreign to them and they do not always react well when confronted with such a non-mainstream religion. As a pagan friendly therapist, I see these things as a normal part of the human experience and a resource for healing.
However, if none of this interests you as a client, then feel free to ignore it. I only engage in Pagan Therapy with clients who specifically request it. Otherwise, working with me will be much like working with other therapists.
Pagan Therapy is the respectful treatment of a client’s beliefs regardless of what they are. As a practicing pagan, the notion of spells, rituals, power animals, or spirit quests are not alien to me. Though these things will have different meanings to different people, I am capable of having a serious discussion with you about these topics and how they impact your life. I consider Pagan Therapy as a means of helping pagan clients use their spiritual beliefs to heal their mental health issues.
Pagans typically enter counseling for many of the same reasons as anyone else. I work with clients dealing with depression, anxiety, self-esteem, relationships, and anger. The difference is for clients who consider their belief system important to them and wish to integrate these beliefs into therapy without fearing judgement or ridicule.
These are some of the techniques I use with my pagan clients. As with all of my therapy, techniques and approaches will be tailored for each client and each situation.
★ Guided visualization to create a reality around your issues that you can work with
★ Spiritual journeying to find help from powers greater than ourselves
★ Shielding techniques to bring a sense of protection and comfort
★ Grounding exercises to keep you rooted in the “here and now” instead of the “there and then”
★ Designing rituals to use outside of therapy sessions
★ Communing and channeling spirits or deities to gain help from powers greater than ourselves
★ Dream work to puzzle out the messages your unconscious is sending you
Rates: I am currently accepting all new clients for individual therapy at $60 per session. I also see couples at $90 per session.
