What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is based on two Japanese words 'Rei' meaning universal or spiritual consciousness and 'Ki' meaning life energy.
Reiki is an ancient, laying on of hands, healing modality that has been around for thousands of years. Reiki is thought to originally have been practiced by Tibetan Buddhists. A fast growing holistic gentle work process safely promoting increased self awareness, relaxation, stress reduction and healing. Reiki always comes in the quantity needed for the greatest good of the receiver and for this reason Reiki cannot be misused.
In Japan Dr. Mikao Kyoho Usui rediscovered Reiki while meditating on Mount Kurama. In 1922 Dr.Usui opened a healing society in Kyoto under the name of Usui Shiki Reiki Ryoho (the Usui System of Reiki Healing) . Reiki is spiritual in nature but not a religion. The average Reiki treatment is an individual experience promoting balance, transformation and harmony. Reiki is a non-intrusive technique which can be practiced hands on or with hands held above the body for those preferring not to be touched. The feelings of the client are always respected.
Reiki is also available for small domestic animals in your home.
