Skill/Service Details: I worked several decades as a technical editor in a variety of fields. I have also edited and proofread manuscripts ranging from fanzines (I used to produce a mostly Star Trek fanzine many years ago—before the Internet!) to small books to Master's Theses.
I have a degree in English Literature, and also one in Graphic Design. If you have a story, a book, a paper, or other document you'd like a fresh pair of eyes to review, please consider me. I can do everything from a basic red-line proofread (i.e. doing no more than verifying that changes were properly made) to a heavy edit/rewrite.
I have a very good eye for those details that tend to escape people (I once caught a reversed sign in an engineering document that could have resulted in a really huge mistake that would have cost the company $$$ or loss of contract if it had slipped through) . When I edit, I try to let the client know not only what I did, but why I did it. And I am very conscious of technical terminology that I may not know, so I always double check to make sure I am not changing something that should not be changed.
Rates: Generally I charge $25/hour. However, rates are negotiable and I can work on a per-project basis, if reasonable.
