Unexpected Warming In Antarctica

Author: Jonathan Fildes Source: BBC News

Title: UNEXPECTED WARMING IN ANTARCTICA
Winter air temperatures over Antarctica have risen by more than 2C in the last 30 years, a new study shows.
Research published in the US journal Science says the warming is seen across the whole of the continent and much of the Southern Ocean.
The study questions the reliability of current climate models that fail to simulate the temperature rise.
In addition, the scientists from the British Antarctic Survey (BAS) say the cause of the warming is not clear.
It could be linked to increases in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere or natural variations in Antarctica's climate system.
Scientists are keen to understand the change in temperatures over the continent as the region holds enough water in its ice to raise sea levels by 60 metres.

What? "Unexpected?"
Where have they been in the past 20 years?

"The warming above the Antarctic could have implications for snowfall across the Antarctic and sea level rise. Current climate model simulations don’t reproduce the observed warming, pointing to weaknesses in their ability to represent the Antarctic climate system. Our next step is to try to improve the models."
This goes for the Warming Models, as well as the non-Warming Models. It simply denotes data which is not explained by current theory. A lot of past events were not well explained by then prevalent theory.
The Famine of the 78th Century was not the fault of Kali-Ma; she simply tried to deal with it. But you should have seen the Skiing in Europe, with slopes extending right down to the Mediterranian.
If Green-House Gasses are a problem, we can distribute some Minerals on the Deeper Seas, but we might restore the Wisconsin Glacier to Long Island.

So what's the big surprise? They've been so focused on the Arctic that they forgot there might be another pole involved? Or maybe it was the report about penguins needing Bermuda shorts and Hawaiian shirts this year. Whatever globally affects one pole isn't about to neglect the other. And if the Northern seas rise, the Southern Hemisphere isn't about to stay dry either. Apparently, whatever is going on is moving faster than what most are expecting. I think that may be the true surprise. That the changes won't be in centuries- but in less than a handful of decades.
