'Haunted' Swing Just Keeps On Rocking

Author: Metro Source: Metro (UK)

Title: 'HAUNTED' SWING JUST KEEPS ON ROCKING
Evidence of witchcraft - or merely a brisk wind?
Whatever may be the explanation, an out-of-control playground swing has got families and police in Argentina spooked.
The swing apparently rocks back and forwards without being touched - and anxious parents have decided the playground must be haunted.

Yes it looks as if the boy is gently pushing his weight against the pole. Notice how the swings slowing begin to move and the sort of "build up" speed until the center one is moving bigger and bigger. The other two and still slightly moving too. It's just that as the motion moves accross the swingset most of the energy focuses down the middle making the middle swing move more than the others.

I'm not one to dismiss a nature- or spirit-induced phenomenon, but the kid leaning on the swingset is pretty darn suspicious-looking. Barely ever moves.
Though there is wind in the video, I've never seen three swings on a set all move in a markedly different way. The left one hardly moves at all, the right one moves a bit, while the one in the middle (the "haunted" one) looks like it's doing the twist. Weird. C

its definately a product of the wind and the boy pushing his weight against the pole. like other posters have said, lets see the swing by itself, under a tent that has no wind. otherwise, i'm just not impressed.
Blessings

sticks like glue to the pole. It could be him doing it by shifting his weight. I'd like to see the swing move WITHOUT anyone touching the swing set.

I think it's unlikely that the wind would move ONE swing that much and not the other two. It's not like there's a constant jetstream aimed just at the swing.
HOWEVER, if the chains are made of a much lighter metal than the others (say iron vs. aluminum or something) , that might explain it. I prefer the think it's haunted by the ghost of a child who enjoyed playing there, though.

Yes, there is a lot of wind. To have only one swing acting like that is a little disconcerting, but who knows -- maybe the wind's just playing up that one.
But observe the kite in the back, especially later in the video. The wind is blowing in the opposite direction of which it should be blowing, in order to have the swing... well, swing in that motion.
(Call me a conspiracy theorist, though. ;) )

You can hear the wind on the video - it sounds quite brisk. Sure, one swing moves much more than the others, but that could be the result of any number of things - different materials in the chain would be my guess.
In any case, it's easy enough to resolve. Build a tent over the swing set to block all the wind. If the swing stops, then wind was the cause. If not, well, you've probably not made a very wind-proof tent.
