Austrian Catholics Up In Arms Over Pope's Comments

Author: AFP Source: Google

Title: AUSTRIAN CATHOLICS UP IN ARMS OVER POPE'S COMMENTS
Pope Benedict XVI's decision to rehabilitate a Holocaust-denying priest and to appoint an ultra-conservative bishop in Linz has set back years of efforts to modernise the Catholic Church's image in Austria, critics say.
The moves are "a slap in the face for the Austrian Church" and the sum of signals being sent by the Vatican was "appalling", said Erhard Busek, a Roman Catholic and former politician from the conservative OeVP party who served as Austria's vice chancellor between 1991 and 1995.
"It's not a message of peace, more a declaration of war," said the prominent Roman Catholic theologian Paul Zulehner, suggesting the church appeared to be in "self destruct" mode.

No one claims 6 million Jews were _gassed_ by the Nazis. That's a scarecrow that Holocaust deniers put up in order to take down.
The claim is that 6 million Jews were _killed_ by the Nazis. Shot, beaten, worked to death in the concentration camps, died of disease or malnutrition in the concentration camps, gassed in the concentration camps, and all other means of murder combined.
The reason we know the number is 6 million is that before the Holocaust there were 17 million Jews, and after the Holocaust there were 11 million Jews. The math is not hard.
Oh, and today? Roughly 13 million Jews in the world. There were more Jews alive in 1939 than there are today.

This was actually old news when it went up yesterday. I sent Wren a link last night but I guess she is sleeping in today! : - )
"Pope insists Bishop Richard Williamson must renounce Holocaust denial
The Pope has ordered an ultra-conservative bishop from Britain to recant his denial that Jews died in gas chambers during the Holocaust.
In a move designed to head off condemnation, Pope Benedict XVI ordered Bishop Richard Williamson to unequivocally and publicly renounce his claims that there were no gas chambers and that fewer than 300,000 Jews died in the Nazi death camps instead of the accepted figure of six million. "

I have some Catholic friends and they all hate and are embarrassed by Ratzinger.

At least Catholics as a whole are pretty much disgusted over this - I haven't heard from any Catholics - even the most conservative - that completly agreed with this decision. Too bad there's no way to impeach a pope, eh?

how Fishy of them. At first I was sceptical about the whole AstroTheology concept-surely it isn't that easy, but it's looking more accurate with each year further into the 21st C. The Sign of the Fish does rule naturally the 12th House.
The whole 6 million doesn't seem possible when looked at stripped of emotions; what about the Gypsies? The deformed Germans? The homosexuals? They too, were sent off to the 'work camps', & it is smarter to remember what they called those places so we may notice any 21st Century versions.

I don't think Wir Sind Kirche is the only force behind this article, but I've no way to see what this article is ignoring, and the reporting might be biased. It's possible, that RatsParts is trying to be the second to last pope, or something, but floods of unballanced abuse is a more likely scenario. Why was the Deniers' Bishop reinstated, might have something to do with his pension, rather than any endorsement of his views, but the idea that the Germans gassed six million Jews is also questionable, since other forms of abuse were also deadly. I don't happen to know, what he really said, or in what spirit. Meanwhile, a lobbying group for the end of Celibacy has iconified the Fascists of Catholicism, and is looking to promote their liberation theology.
Actually, the RCs don't take vows of Celibacy, but of Chastity, and to not Marry, which actually has some administrative benefits.
From what I saw, in attending a latin mass, the Congregation is supposed to bless the pagan offerings, of their Priests, unto graven images of Sol Invictus, and so bless the Congregation. It's a nice bit of Plumbing, though rather different from what Jesus was teaching. I wonder, would they allow their Pagan Gods to walk the Earth, or are they of the Greco-Mountain Prison School.

That's just Ratzy- (lol) just spreading sunshine wherever he goes, setting back progress anyway he can.. If there is to be any reconciliation between the church and its believers- and those it is hoping to sway, it won't be under Ratzy. He's already made it clear that he's not going to actually get along with anyone--unless they embrace his rather narrow views. I'm pretty sure that many are wishing they could already elect the next Pope and skip this one altogether.

Looks like the "Nazi Pope" nickname is not only redundant, but also correct.

That the Catholic Church has any intention of being any thing but the enemy of Pagans or other religions?
