Woman Bashed For Not Attending Church

Author: Nick Ralston   Source: Daily Telegraph (AU)

Title: TEEN BASHED FOR NOT ATTENDING CHURCH

Three leaders of a Korean church in Sydney have been jailed for bashing a young woman who failed to regularly attend services.

Junior assistant pastor Chi Yeong Yun, 37, and Bible study teachers Tom Chae-Yong Lee, 22, and James Kang, 21, from the Open Door Presbyterian Church in Chatswood, northern Sydney, pleaded guilty to assaulting Angela Kim, 19, in July last year.

In the New South Wales District Court today, Acting Judge Joe Gibson named Yun as the "architect of the plan" to punish Ms Kim for not regularly attending the church and disrespecting her elders.

Yun was given a 12 month jail term, Kang was sentenced to nine months, and Lee received a three month sentence.

into the church of God's love and find peace in his name... and if you don't... we'll bash you.

Something not quite right there.

were these women doing out of the kitchen anyway. Why's nobody asking that question?

It just-- got out of hand? Uh yeah, right!
With such-- "good intentions", she is assured of going to heaven whether she wants to or not. At the end of a club, most likely.
Question is, did they take it upon themselves to send such a message-- or did someone suggest it to them? Either way, I wouldn't blame her if she told them all to go to f**king H*ll and flip them a bird along with it. As for those two that did it-- their sentences were a little too light.

Implosion Aug 26th. at 11:02:11 am EDT

Lady GoldenRaven (New Castle, Michigan) - Email Me

Between this incident, Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, and the idiot who threatened the Swedish King, etc., the Xtians are like a time bomb waiting to explode. They shall implode among themselves.

Why can I see a world war in the near future and it will have nothing to do with politics, but religion. There are too many zealots out there willing to kill and torture in the name of God. The day will come when the Xtians shall rue the day they ever let a Falwell or a Robertson speak for the masses.

As far as this incident--these "Xtians" should have received a stiffer sentence. Had they beaten her for any other reason, they probably would have.

Where in the Bible does it say: "I command you to go out and beat my people into submission, they WILL serve Me alone, willingly or not. Never saw that in my version.

Good For The Judge Aug 26th. at 10:36:21 am EDT

In handing down the sentences, he said the actions of the three men had gone against their teachings.

"Whether it was intended that it go as far as it did, I don't know, " he said.

"Religion in this day and age does not countenance such conduct ... and is against the teachings of God."

Women could not be "coerced and beaten into compliance", Judge Gibson said.

"The victim is an adult able to make up her own decisions."

I agree with the judge in this case. However, I say regardless of the age or sex of the victim, NO ONE has a right to beat or coerce someone else into compliance. So this girl didn't want to attend their church... big, fat, hairy deal! Maybe there's something going on within that church's administration or community that bears scrutiny?

Incidents like this make me go hmmmmm

This Is Getting Sad Aug 26th. at 9:20:13 am EDT

Ravenowl (Amboy, Wales) - Email Me

every day now.. it seems the Christian church looses ground doing something insanely stupid.. and in this case violent.. 2 hours.. because she didnt attent church regularly... I would hate to be a member of that church because im sure to have been beaten much longer... seeing as I attend my Christian church maybe once a month if that... because mostly they do teach good and its nice to socialize with the Christians with them knowing im Wiccan... none at my church care and its Southern Baptist... they know im not recruiting... I had to have several long talks with the pastor and the elders of the church over it.. but in the end.. they know im not a threat to them and the way they put it... im helping the church by actually being spiritual and open.. ironic isnt it... what part of Christs teaching advocated violenced like this.. nothing not one word.. only the bull the Christians of the time advocated.. and wrote into their bible... if its there... I just dont rememeber it... the worst I remember and I cant remember its source is "spare the rod spoil the child"... but even that doesnt go on for two hours.... poor girl.. I wish she finds a church or whatever that she is more at home at... and really if they dont stop shooting themselves in the foot.. there realy isnt going to be a church of Christ in any form.. before too long...

Way Too Far. Aug 26th. at 8:59:03 am EDT

I can't believe the level of barbarism these men stooped to. What the hell were they thinking, that they own members of their own race and can force them into submission by beating them senseless? I hope she takes the church to civil court and ends up owning it.
