Inquest Likely Into Fate Of Missing Man "Cursed By Witches"

Author: Matt Adams Source: Northern Daily Leader

Title: INQUEST LIKELY INTO FATE OF MISSING MAN
An inquest is likely to be held into the case of a university student who disappeared from the Armidale area almost 14 years after being "cursed by witches".
The whereabouts of William "Bill" Roach remains a mystery, as inquiries into his disappearance reveal he was possibly the victim of foul play.
A special strike force was set up last year to investigate the circumstances surrounding his disappearance around New Years 1993.
The then 25-year-old was last seen in the Armidale central business district and was a part-time student at the University of New England.
In a bizarre twist, it is understood Mr Roach was cursed by a coven of witches weeks before he vanished after earlier mocking them at a secret ceremony he visited along with his girlfriend.

No we're no in Kansas anymore...
Tamworth, Armidale & the University of New England, are in the rural area called "New England" in northern New South Wales (NSW) Australia. Hence some confusion.
As for the quality of the article - well I wouldn't expect any quality from any Hicks-ville in rural Australia. They've combined several disappearances/murder cases into the story as ti was. I'm betting the "Witchcraft" angle was just a stick to increase paper sales - with no consideration to the longer term effects of such media abuse.

... with the inability to write coherently, that is.
(read through the article, you get halfway before realizing he went missing weeks after he was allegedly cursed, an only NOW are they starting an inquest. Not cursed 14 yrs ago, now he's missing, etc etc...)
That and the part about the 'natural' mother and the adoptive mother now sharing a 'special bond' .... like being linked through the same son wasn't 'special' until he disappeared?
...And what's that make the adoptive mother - 'unnatural'?
Ye Gods, what matchbook school of journalism is giving these people diplomas?
Blessed BE! JL

I hate to say it... but there are some really messed up people out there masquerading as ordinary friendly neighborhood Pagans. Just like you get your occasional abortion bombing Christian in the non-denominational Church. We're no different. Well slightly different.. a lot of ours tend to be more isolated and have less organized community support, which can aggravate a problem Pagan into becoming a REALLY Problem Pagan. People do horrible things to one another. And the power control bunch who get into this as a way to intimidate others or create some kind of illusion of personal control over the personally uncontrollable plague many of our communities even at the top levels, with so called "elders" passing on their disfunctional ideas and beliefs to the younger generations.

A man is missing. He obviously wasn't missing in suspicious circumstances 14 years ago when he was last seen, because if he was nobody reported him missing. If there was a missing persons report the police might have investigated, but no report - no crime + no police involvement. Forget the reasons it took the police 14 years to act - I want to know why it took his adoptive and natural mothers that long to act.
I'd love to know where this reporter got his information about the guy being 'cursed by witches'. Was it from someone in the group he mocked? Was it from someone who heard it from someone who got it from a rumor . . . etc. Sounds mightily like a beat up story to me. Take one fact (the guy hasn't been heard from in 14 years) , throw in a bit of totally unsubstanciated and probably unrelated rumour to spice up the pot, fill it out with some speculation, stir well and serve to the waiting public as a factual news story.
Next thing they'll be reporting is that a suspicious dingo working in connection with a local bunyip caused the disappearance. (I still believe that Harold Holt was killed by a dingo with a snorkel)

I've no idea where Tamworth is but, "Mr Roach's adoptive mother and natural mother met for the first time earlier this year and now share a special bond as they seek information on where their son is. "
Could we assemble a coven, ad-hoc, it should be easy enough to reveal his True Name, and current whereabouts and, using his Spirit as Relic, identify the fate of his Corpus.
That he didn't take a coven seriously might have upset someone in that coven, but frivolous curses aren't supposed to be so successful.
I know I've a funerary formulum around here somewhere. Essentially, you want the True Name of the lost person, so as not to identify that Soul by a degraded bit of Landfill.

This case can be used to illustrate why we should always be wary of what we say. The same holds true for people of other religions, but anyone "non-mainstream" always needs to be extra-careful.
Assuming, for argument's sake, that the man WAS cursed by a group of occultists of some sort (could have been Witches, could have been dabblers, could have been wackos, we don't know) , then the authorities are naturally going to persue it as an avenue of enquiry. They wouldn't be doing their job properly if they didn't.
HOWEVER... This could easily be a case of two isolated events being incorrectly associated. It's very easy:- A: That guy C is really annoying me! B: Come on, he's not that bad...! A: You kidding? I could kill him! (some time later) D: You heard that C is missing? Shocking, isn't it? B: Oh God (s) ! Last time I saw A, they said that they'd kill him! Thought it was just a joke at the time! Better call the police...
On another note, the reporter should really have given a little more detail - after all, we all know that most people who would call themselves "Witches" don't curse others, no matter how angry they are. It forms a negative bond and a chain of events that always backfire. I get the impression we're being tarred with the same brush as some really unpleasant group...
