Accused 'Abused Boys' Under Guise Of Pagan Rituals

Author: AAP Source: Sydney Morning Herald (Australia)

Title: ACCUSED 'ABUSED BOYS' UNDER GUISE OF PAGAN RITUALS
A businessman attending a National Party conference in Queensland performed sex acts with a teenage boy under the guise of pagan rituals, a court heard today.
In his opening address, Prosecutor Todd Fuller said Ford, who at the time was running a media relations business, would use sex acts during pagan rituals to induct boys into the "White Brotherhood".
He would often conduct what he said were pagan rituals in his lounge room, chanting and sitting around a ring of candles, the court heard.

OK... I know it's a little late in the life of this article to be posting this... but I've been almost emboldened by finding out that someone might actually listen.
It's not enough to sit here and scream that these things happen (though !!thankfully!! they are MUCH rarer than some segments of the population would like to believe) . Somebody has to DO something... and I haven't enough faith in my magickal/persuasive abilities to go hunt all the creeps down personally. I'm not up to that job, though part of me would sure as heck like to do it.
It's also not within my rights as a Pagan... that whole 'Free Will' thing gets kinda messy[wry laugh].
What IS within my rights-- as well as being the purpose of this post-- is to wonder if there are any other willing/qualified people out there (hopefully more qualified than me... like having some kind of degree or more than 'battlefield medicine' experience in counseling) who would like to put together some kind of ORGANIZED Pagan outreach where people who are being or have been victimized by this kind of CRAP (as well as other kinds of CRAP, like those really freakin' tragic episodes of teasing that have killed some of our young ones) could get REAL, SOLID, PAGAN-FRIENDLY HELP.
As far as I know, Christianity and secular sources are the only places to find this kind of organized help... and all the ones I've encountered tend to treat Paganism as the problem-- you know, assuming that creeps are the rule, the stereotypical schtick-- rather than what it is.
I think we could do better than that.
I'm blue-skying things here-- I don't have a plan, I don't have anything but a thought and a wish. I know it would be hard-- there are a lot of problems. Like the time input required and the fact that doing something like this would be a HIGH-RISK ENDEAVOR. And that's just for starters... cause I think those would be the easy things.
But if anyone sees this and wants to talk about the possibility... you know what to do.
Be blessed. --Ani

or you might be accused of being a Fundie. I hope no one in the Pagan community believes that all Pagans are 'good'. Even if this man is a paedophile and/or a white supremicist, he can call himself a pagan if he chooses. He might also perform sincere rituals, even if they are horrific to most people and unlawful. Some folk who call themselves Christians are evil and the same goes for some Pagans - simple as that.

Actually, the typical flow of these things goes the other way - what they do is what was done to them. Break the cycle whenever you get an opportunity. Lots of different belief systems get lumped under the word 'pagan.' Ritual abuse isn't just for Satanists and Catholics.
May you be blessed and free from denial.

Well, I have to admit to taking offense at the additional article link...
... but if this is true they are still Pagan rituals.
Just because we're all nice people here doesn't mean 'good folks' is part of the literal, dictionary-type definition of Pagan.
Just like any other religion, it isn't. We have our bad apples... kind of like those child-molesting Catholic priests none of us would contest are out there.
Take this as another wake-up call, guys. If we don't face up to the fact that this stuff DOES happen, sometimes legitimately under our label, it's gonna be bad. If we don't deal with it, someone else is gonna deal with it for us. And the someone's probably gonna be a Fundamentalist.
Of course, if we are dealt with harshly because we not merely failed but refused to deal with a problem in (like it or not) our own ranks... well, in my view we almost deserve what we get.
I'd like to deny it too, but I've had it thrown in my face and I can't.
Please don't play Catholic on an issue that will define, as much as anything else, how NeoPagans are viewed by the rest of the religious AND secular world.
Be blessed.

Not wanting to register to read the article...
To say this offense is not Pagan, while similar abuses are somehow Catholic, would be disingenuous. I've known a former Scout Master who did not use teen boys, but it's not a standard practice of The Boy Scouts either.
In fact, Reclamation has the risk, that such abuses were not invented by Christianity, and may be honestly pulled out of past lives. Once past life practices come into play, it becomes almost irrelevant whether Sky-Clad is a Wiccan tradition, or if such Wicca is simply an adaptation of Nudist Trads. Nudism and Child Abuse are pretty mild, compared to some of the traditions I've died from, so let's not go hiding our heads in The Sand, like so many Ostricatholiges.
Consider, rather, whether your conduct as ritual masters reflect what you'd like to suffer in other masters. What goes around, comes around.

my mistake... the term White Brotherhood sounds too much like a white supremicist thing.

the additional link article DOESN"T correctly label his acts as the guise of pagan rituals.

...they worded it properly, that it was under the GUISE of Pagan ritual, NOT that it WAS Pagan ritual.

Here's another reference. Find More info -- HERE
|

| Term Origin | Jun 15th. at 11:28:40 am EDT |

by Seshen (Texas) - wc_xemail

The "White Brotherhood" term actually has its origin in ceremonial magic, meaning more "white light/magic" magicians as opposed to the "black magicians."
It originally had nothing to do with skin color.

by Steph (Midwest City OK) - wc_xemail

That old magical lodge poop. It used to be that ceremonial magical lodges were allegedly dividing into White Lodges and Black Lodges, and this had nothing to do with race.
So refering to someone as part of the white brotherhood could be a reference to that or some other ascended masters poop.

This is just another sicko that needs his head examined. He's a pedophile not a pagan. And what's the deal with "The White Brotherhood"? Sounds to me like another Hitler wannabe. This person needs some serious medical type attention.
