Nasty Surprises Warding Off Evil

Author: Kane Young Source: Hobart Mercury (AU)

Title: NASTY SURPRISES WARDING OFF EVIL
You may never know it, but there just may be a mummified moggie residing at your house.
Many of Tasmania's old houses and buildings are believed to contain concealed "ritual objects" placed there long ago as protective talismans against witches and evil spirits.
Originating in Britain as far back as the 13th century, the custom was brought to Australia during the 18th century but objects have been discovered in buildings dating from as late as the early 20th century.
Often hidden in chimneys and roof cavities, the objects most commonly uncovered during renovations include old boots and shoes -- used as "spirit traps" -- and dried cats.

| We All Do This... | Jan 17th. at 6:13:47 pm EST |

We all do this to some extent... The act of cleaning a house right after moving in, repainting, redecorating, they have aesthetic purposes but they can also serve to energically cleanse a new home. People put their energy into making things fresh, and new, and 'them' and they put their own energy and good intention into the home, and in doing so banish some of the old as well.
Plenty of people have little fetishes, or talismans that they may hang, by custom, around their homes, and though they may not be for 'warding off evil' our personal effects, especially those we place outside our home in a place prominent to visitors, have power to us, and we use them to send a message to those who come to our homes. Sometimes it's a welcome mat, sometimes it's a scarecrow, a broom, a dream catcher, a lion door knocker, etc. etc.
:) This is a fun story, and fascinating. It'd be itneresting to know what people do nowadays to specifically cleanse, or ward off evil when they move into or build a new home. :)

and done ritual cleansings for every house or apartment that I have ever lived in during my 20 years as a practitioner. I haven't gone to make "witch bottles" but I haven't actually owned any of the places I live either ..so....

I love to do psychic and magickal self defense. In my area of BC people still use magickal devices to ward off evil around the home, from bagua coins to dream catchers to burying a broom under the doorway to your house. Many popets of personal protection are also used from crystals to coins :)
