Witches Rush To Get Hitched

Author: TVNZ Source: TVNZ (NZ)

Title: WITCHES RUSH TO GET HITCHED
Victoria's witches are rushing to get hitched following the repeal of antiquated laws banning witchcraft.
To cater for the rush, four new marriage celebrants specializing in witch weddings, or handfastings, were approved by the federal attorney-general's department this week.
In July, Victoria became the last Australian state to revoke legislation that had outlawed witchcraft, sorcery and fortune-telling.
Pagan Awareness Network state coordinator Gavin Andrew said today the celebrants were in high demand as spring approached, the traditional period for handfasting.
"Now that the repeal of the anti-witchcraft laws is going through many witches are feeling much more comfortable about openly recognizing their religion," he said.

Laneth Sffarlenn (Doreen, Victoria) - Email Me

I just thought it time that someone from Australia responded to this, most excellent news!
I've been collecting news articles from the papers following this story as it means that when my partner and I wish to handfast, it will be legally recognised in our place of residence.
I am incredible happy and I laugh at the fact that our outdated Government and Monarchy kept that in for so long.
I think that all goverments should employ people to sit and read massive lists of all laws for the states and then highlight the stupid and outdated ones.
Blessings to all in Vic for their weddings!
