Teen Witch Caught Up In Spells

Author: Melissa Wickham   Source: Nation News (Barbados)

Title: TEEN WITCH CAUGHT UP IN SPELLS

At age 11, he cast his first spell. Now at 18 years old, Jason (not his real name) professes to be a practising witch.

It is the latest craze among teenagers not only in the United States and Europe but also right here in Barbados. Jason is just one of a growing number of youngsters who has rejected Christianity and is embracing witchcraft as a way of life.

They cast spells to pass exams, predict the future by communicating with the spirit world and even place curses on others. If you think your son or daughter could never be one of them, think again.

Most of the teenagers in Jason's circle of friends have parents who are devout Christians and who have no idea of what they're up to.

Infiltrating Colleges... Jun 27th. at 1:47:18 am EDT

Rev. Heidi Andrews (Salisbury, Maryland) - Email Me - Web

Don't they already do that? What's the groups name? Something for Christ?..............

Crusaders for Christ! That's it!....I think.....yes. They wear red shirts and running around preaching at people. Living near a major college, I sometimes have the misfortune of running into them. Usually my pentacle is out and quite noticable. Last time I happened to be behind a couple of them in a store, and let me just say that, if what they say we do is the "evil eye", then we haven't even come close to what these self-styled good little Christians do.

Now, don't get me wrong. Not all Christians are this hateful or judgemental, but these Crusader kids are scary.

Some People Pray And Some Do Spells Jun 27th. at 12:04:45 am EDT

karrie9 (Kenosha, Wisconsin) - Email Me

Considering that knowledge (all sorts, including but not limited to self-awareness and education) is key in spells, as are purpose, choices, focus, will, clarity, and so on ... why are spells only "a craze" but (Christian?) prayer is good?

Many witches will not use the terms "white witchcraft" or "black magic" because magic is not limited to a black and white school of thought unlike "my religion good, you and/or your belief system and/or craft bad."

Summary Jun 26th. at 8:02:44 pm EDT

William (Pictou Landing, Nova Scotia) - Email Me

... witchcraft, bad.... Christianity, good.

Blah blah blah.... Christian plan of action.... if you don't understand it, get rid of it... but before you do, justify getting rid of it by painting it as evil.
Overall this kid did a good job of describing his practise, right down to his honest portrayal of using magic to 'get even' when he's pissed, and what HE uses black candles for.... (sorry, no monopoly on what black candles can represent) ... and his reasons for leaving Christianity. I also see the 'solution' is for Christians to infiltrate schools and colleges to preach their message and save souls... who could have guessed. Here's a thought Mr. Christian... let those who want Christianity come to YOU, stop trying to peddle your wares where they aren't wanted. Ever here of live and let live? You did? Thought so.... you just don't care.

Wrong Path Jun 26th. at 2:29:51 pm EDT

Calliope (Irma, Wisconsin) - Email Me

This article made it seem like Christianity and other mainstream religions are the right one and Paganism isn't the right way to go. There are many points in this article that I find disagreeable such as black candles representing evil, and hexes and curses being put on others.

He Said It, Not Me. Jun 26th. at 1:59:33 pm EDT

Lora (Leominster, Massachusetts) - Email Me

"Father Paul said the Church had failed if young people saw Christianity as a tyrannical religion and were turning to witchcraft for answers. "

I wonder if he will ever build on this insight.

Interesting...though Some Things.... Jun 26th. at 12:37:59 pm EDT

Silver Faery (Hays, Kansas) - Email Me

White is not always Good and black does not represent Evil! Some other things in there didn't help.

One most Witches that are Wicca do not Hex or Curse, especially when they are angry or period.

I know he tried...and the hard thing about this path is that it is so unique to each individual person.
