Update: Quebec Police Admit They Went Undercover At Montebello Protest

Author: CBC News Source: CBC News

Title: QUEBEC POLICE ADMIT THEY WENT UNDERCOVER AT MONTEBELLO PROTEST
Quebec provincial police admitted Thursday that three of their officers disguised themselves as demonstrators during the protest at the North American leaders summit in Montebello, Que.
However, the police force denied allegations its undercover officers were there on Monday to provoke the crowd and instigate violence.
Police said the three undercover officers were only at the protest to locate and identify non-peaceful protesters in order to prevent any incidents.
Police came under fire Tuesday, when a video surfaced on YouTube that appeared to show three plainclothes police officers at the protest with bandanas across their faces. One of the men was carrying a rock.

"Police said the three were told to monitor protesters who were not peacefully demonstrating to prevent any violent incidents, but they were called out as undercover agents WHEN THEY REFUSED TO THROW OBJECTS." (emphasis added)
You just have to love the inverted logic they try to get people to swallow... NOT!

Oh yeah, becuase it's a slight step up from the kinds of tactics use dby US police here in New York and Miami and even Saint Louis and Gods know where else.
Numerouse times police abused theri powersm, arrested people without cause, and tried ot spur a riot so they would have leave to act against the crowd. And just as numerouse, they only got caught becuase of video taken at the scene.
Gee, and on a side note, New York wants to outlaw any videography in public in New York unless you have a permit and a million doller insurence policy. Totally unrelated, I am sure.
To hear that this sort of thing is happening in Canada is depressing.
Oh Canada, your neighbors to the south had thought so much better of you.

Note to crooked cops:
Ooops. Next time, make sure to buy different boots than department issue brand combat model. A little duct tape on the outside isn't enough disguise.
If a private gang infiltrated with members acting exactly how these cops did, would they have been arrested and prosecuted? If so, the same treatment by law must be applied to the cops, with the same charges as would have been prosecuted against anyone else acting similarly.

Don't think that those police that are willing to start a riot just kick a little butt aren't too low down to retaliate against someone who might expose them. Small, easily hidden cameras with removeable film or memory, and some form of quick access to the internet would be very good. Free wireless Starbucks perhaps?

| Government Provocation At Peacful Protests | Aug 24th. at 2:31:01 pm EDT

It's is a terrible thing when peacful protests can not be peaceful due to acts like this by the Police or Government worldwide. This is something that isn't new and is used worldwide to disrupt the opposition, yet we see on our televisions a different story when the protest goes from peaceful to a riot due to such provocation by agents of the state. Much like the infamous "Battle in Seattle," the protesters there were peacably assembled to protest, and it was disrupted by the "Black Bloc" of provocateurs into that awful riot. It's true though, always go armed with a camera to protests, so that if such a thing takes place, the other (real) side of the story can be told beside what they feed us on the news.

The tactic of infiltrating a protest to escalate it to a riot is not a new one. It was a good thing the organizers of the protest attempted to unmask the Quebec Police Officers and to prevent them from starting a riot. The police officers behind the masks were right to get away from the protesters so they could keep their identities secret.
This kind of tactic must stop as the police aren't fast enough to deal with tech savvy people. What would have happened if one of the police officers had been unmasked and identified in the news. Would that officer lose his job, be transfered to a different detachment, what?
For the safety of all involved in the peaceful protest at Montebello, don't infiltrate the protestors again.
Blessed Be to All
