Humanists Don't Take A Party Line On Christmas

Author: Belfast Telegraph   Source: Belfast Telegraph

Title: HUMANISTS DON'T TAKE A PARTY LINE ON CHRISTMAS

There are strong rumors of a conspiracy against Christmas. In some cities the Christmas tree has become the holiday tree.

The Archbishop of York, John Sentamu, has accused illiberal atheists of combining with aggressive secularists to create a situation where those who don't believe in God have decided that a Christian festival is offending other faiths.

Who are these secularists who want to rob Christians of Christmas? Most of us humanists are liberal and tolerant individuals who believe in live and let live. But I think we should be clear about the facts.

"It is said that beliefs are for believers and that non-beliefs are for non-believers, but sadly, this idea is wrong. According to believers, beliefs are for everyone and according to non-believers, beliefs are for no one. But we all know that minds that get caught up in this semantics-diddling trap only do so because they are no longer functioning." - The Path of Discord; Also Known as the Path of Chaos II

Humanists don't create a phoney war on holidays to justify the way they treat others, nor do they blame others for the troubles they themselves created in the first place.
There wasn't a war on the holidays until the fundies found themselves confronted by others who wanted the same equality they were granting themselves.
