Druids Fear Shadow Will Be Cast Over View Of 'Birth Of The Moon'

Author: Jenny Haworth Source: The Scotsman

Title: DRUIDS FEAR SHADOW WILL BE CAST OVER VIEW OF 'BIRTH OF THE MOON'
It is a rare lunar spectacle whose significance dates back to ancient times, drawing visitors to the Isle of Lewis from across the world.
But now the druids, pagans and witches who gather at the Callanish Stones fear the next time they visit their treasured view of the Moon could be ruined by a 53-turbine wind farm.
According to local belief, the Callanish Stones were erected so they would have a special relationship with a range of hills opposite, known as the Old Woman of the Moors.

Calanaise is beautiful even while covered with sheep. there are 50 miles of roads there that do not mar the grandeurs of these stones. I speak with conviction and my last name ends with of the MacLeod's of Lewis and my blood is literally on those stones.

Two symbols of reverence in one place sounds fine to me as well. I'd love to have a wind turbine in my backyard, and in sight from my altar to boot.

It seems the problem is that enough other people said 'not in my backyard' that it seemed a cultural and religious heritage site became the only fair game.
It's not like it's hard to find some wind in Scotland.
I think in this particular case, it'd be fitting enough to have some wind turbines there. There'd be disturbing worries what *else* companies might put on sacred sites, if this were allowed, but in this day and age, (and, really, in the short view, admittedly) I think it'd be hypocrisy to be trying to honor the Earth while trying to keep green tech out of sight.
I see nothing ugly about a wind turbine.

Save the planet, but not in my backyard!
