The Pagans Who Run Our Country

Author: Daily Express Source: Daily Express (UK)

Title: THE PAGANS WHO RUN OUR COUNTRY
More Scottish Government staff are practising pagans than are members of several major world religions, new figures have shown.
Seven civil servants said that they worshipped nature and various ancient gods during a recent diversity check on religious beliefs – a higher number than Jews, Sikhs or Hindus.
However, they will not get special treatment – unlike pagan police officers south of the Border who last week won the right to take time off for festivals such as Hallowe’en and the summer solstice.
A spokesman for the Scottish Government said: “The standard holidays are applied across the civil service.

The story is about the *Scottish* Government, not the 'British' one - two separate entities and two separate countries.

. . .I read nothing wrong in this article, just pointing out that there are Pagans serving in the British government as police and bureaucrats.
I personally know of a few people of the Pagan/Heathen persuasion who work for the the United States federal government and for the State of Texas.
One this article does is to show that not all pagans are long-haired, black wearing, low-income workers. I think many here in the US would be surprised by how many Pagans/Heathens work as lawyers, doctors, nurses, educators, law enforcement officers, plumbers, electricians, etc ad nauseum. Hel, it would absolutely shock many of the fundies our there.

Sounds good. I keep wondering why there hasn't been a film about an entity SO ALIVE she can't stay dead! Enough with the nonsensical zombie premise, so dead you aren't dead. ..."Earlier this year, it emerged that eight Strathclyde Police officers had listed their religion as Jedi."... from the article. I hope this crosses the Atlantic, I want good things to be here, in America too.

Really? We actually have enough people who can be seen as " running" a country?
This article smells to me a lot like the fear mongering " Zionist Occupied Government" and " Jews taking over the news media" stuff that certain white supremacist types try to claim is the " honest truth".
Here's something interesting. Scotland long ago wasn't Christian. Christians were the invaders and the Church tried to wipe out the native religion. In a country where the Christians are the minority they holler " persecution" when what they do to others is done to them.
The simple fact is that Christianity has been on the decline for a number of decades. People are realizing that other paths are as good, sometimes even better, than the Christian one. The Christian fear-mongering is a reaction to their decline in church membership. They can't get by with the "devil and hell" threats, so we're now the " insidious secret army" threat.
As a Pagan in a part of America that says in essence of you aren't Protestant Christian you are to shut up and keep quiet, I find it intriguing the idea that Pagans anywhere could actually become a voice that can't be silenced anymore. In a number of areas we're second class citizens.
What threat are we supposed to be? Make Halloween mandatory?
Guess we'll find out.

They think we're all a bunch of flaky fluffbunnies, yet they worship a zombie and practice ritualistic vampirism/cannibalism. Who's crazier?

.....as the so-called "majority" religions realize that they're not quite all they thought they were in numbers. This is funny. Not so fringe as they would have us believe. Who's path is more crazy? Who's path is destined to disappear? Ahhh...but all is perspective, and thus, this no longer matters.
