Title: THE TALE OF THE OXFORD “GRAVE-ROBBERS”
For over a century, the Red Lady of Paviland, a 26,000 year old skeleton found in a cave near Swansea, has been proudly on display in Oxford University’s Museum of Natural History. But now an unlikely alliance of protestors has won a victory in their campaign to get her back. Cyt ap Nydden, a druid whose real name is Chris Warwick, last week launched a campaign group with twelve other pagans and druids, dedicated to the return of the skeleton.
In a solitary protest, Warwick spent a lightning-lashed weekend last month sleeping rough in Goat’s Hole cave in Gower, near Swansea. He told The Oxford Student, “I held a vigil in the cave, and my pagan friends came up and we did a little ritual.” Describing the ritual on his Druid website, Cyt ap Nydden said, “I joined in with their contribution, some of which was in Enochian, and called upon Boudica to assist with the prosecution of our task.
The druids were the latest to add their support to an on-going campaign by local groups and politicians to have the Red Lady returned
