Tying The Knot Pagan Style!

Author: Tivyside Advertiser   Source: Tivyside Advertiser (Wales)

Title: TYING THE KNOT PAGAN STYLE!

Down the years the Netpool beauty spot overlooking the River Teifi in Cardigan has been known locally as a lover's lane, and on Saturday was the venue for the town's first semi-pagan wedding.

Martin and his bride Jo chose Netpool because there are Druid stones located at the site.

They did not opt for a more conventional wedding, explaining that they and many of their friends were non-believers.

High Priestess Angie and Druid Priest Isna conducted the ceremony, which is believed to date back before Saxon times.

Handfasted In CA Oct 20th. at 1:17:16 am EDT

White Woman Drums (Tustin, California) - Email Me - Web

We too had a handfasting type ceremony at the October full moon and we are legally recognized here in CA... It was for me a two-hold blessing: My new husband is not pagan but believes in my right to be one and my marriage license is signed by my Priestess as pagan... We incorporated many traditions from both pagan and christian ceremonies, spoken intentions, candle lighting, rings, wrist tying and jumping the door, to which all our families and friends enjoyed and asked many questions about... The comment I got most that day from many of our christian friends was "It was the truest or most honest ceremony they had seen in a long time"...

Here in the States there are 2 things required for
a marraige to to recognized a " Legal" .
1. the person conducting the ceremony must be of certain specified groups. JPs, Magistrates,Judges,
sometimes other "Officers of the Court", in certain cases Captains of Ships, and Ordained Clergy .
most states or counties require that members of the Clergy register their credintials with the county they
plan to do business in.

2. A licence issued by the State or County .

If you are planning to have a Pagan ceremony and
the official you choose is ordained and registered
your marraige is as legal as any other.

I have serious issues with the term "non-believer", as if all religions not considered valid are lumped into atheism. You'd think that considering the lack of Christians that are open-minded to the supernatural or rather anything not specifically mentioned in the Bible, that it would constitute them as being non-believers.

Will "Handfasting" Become Issue, like Gay Marriage Oct 17th. at 8:10:59 pm EDT

darkspiritfrog (Tallahassee, Florida) - Email Me

Due to various reasons,I and my life partner are not legally married. I saw an article similar to this one and wondered how easy or difficult it is to become a pair entwined under Lugh,Cernunnos, and Brigid. I live west of Tallahassee,Fl. Although I'm not what you would consider a "joiner",I love my lady and want to make her happy. I follow the shaman path, reaching across the void for understanding. She has a early background in household magic from her grandmother. I believe this would be a good thing, but will it become a political issue in the future?
