Asbo Pensioner's 'Witch' Threat

Author: BBC News   Source: BBC News

Title: ASBO PENSIONER'S 'WITCH' THREAT

An 82-year-old woman told a neighbor’s daughter that she was a "witch" and would cast a spell on her family and kill her pet dog, a court has heard.

Dorothy Evans denies verbally abusing the 13-year-old's family, who live next door in Abergavenny, Monmouthshire.

The girl's mother told Cardiff Crown Court how her daughter grew so scared of the threats she wore a crucifix.

Mrs Evans denies harassment and breaching an anti-social behavior order.

This sounds like the type of "witch" who likely has a large print edition of some badly done xtian bible translation ever-present near the most used chair in her house.

Rally the angry villagers, raise a chant of "kill the witch", and consider what for the most part today is a comedy routine, give or take some African villages where elderly widows with red eyes from home heating fire smoke in small poorly ventilated huts have in fact been eliminated as nuisances to the villagers.

There are pagans with serious mental health problems, and some younger people like bipolars off their meds or severe Borderlines, who act in ways this stereotype for a witch depicts, but even for them it's a case of out of control actions which threaten, harass, intimidate, and sometimes become violence towards family or neighbors, just as it is for the increasing numbers of elderly with dementia and other neurological pathologies.

The idea that someone with a severe psychiatric disorder will comply with a court order is silly, though it does set some process to create artificial boundaries to define when involuntary institutional placement, whether psychiatric, nursing home, or prison, is or is not imposed after some subsequent offense. There's been one relative in each prior generation of my own family, among many who've lived to around 90 relatively intact, who might well have been better off dead years sooner than to be subjected to our society's processes to extend life of physical bodies. Most families and society overall cannot afford the cost of babysitters for severe dementia cases of types prone to engage in episodic, unpredictable criminal patterns, in any form which also results in any quality of life at other times for this definition of "witch" as a severe nuisance or worse, unrelated to religion.

There are nursing homes which specialize in dementia care, but they are significantly more expensive than average costs most people cannot afford for extended periods, and what may be 2 or 15 years for different patients. Jail has replaced state mental hospitals in many states, especially those usually facing at least 2 suits backed by state ACLU chapters at all times for abusive management practices, but controlling per capita daily costs to far lower levels than any hospital or prisons in better funded states which are less often sued for civil rights violations.

The adverse impact on neighbors in this British case raises issues which might not exist were all elderly with psych disorders required to be wealthy enough to live in places with buffers of open land around their homes, without which many elderly eccentrics including some notable pagans would likely have been seen instead as criminals and unimportant. If anything, this court case illustrates another society's challenges dealing with an increasingly common issue for which there likely is no realistic, ideal solution.

One Doesn't Have To Be A Witch- To Be One. Feb 21st. at 10:44:05 pm EST

bigcat (peoria, Illinois) - Email Me

This is not a witch- just your ordinary neighbor from hell.
She is at least three bricks shy of a full load, but she sounds like a nasty nuisance who actually would stoop to carrying out some of her threats.
I can sympathize some, because I had neighbors that were just as nasty. One even went so far as to set a vacant house on fire because the city didn't tear it down fast enough to suit him. The neighborhood breathed a sigh of relief when he died. When we moved- we met others that were just as bad, but we managed to outlive most of them and things have settled since.
The worst is, that nothing can really be done to curb such people unless one can catch them at their nefarious behavior. I would suggest a camera and have a number for the cops handy- to report malicious mischief.

"Mrs Casa, who has had CCTV installed in her house, told the court she had developed a rash and was taking sleeping tablets. "

Don't blame your neighbor for your own drug problem.

If these charges are true, it's probably a case of the Moving Cheese.
