Bush Backs Alaskan Oil Drilling

Title: BUSH BACKS ALASKAN OIL DRILLING
US President George W Bush has lifted a ban on oil and gas drilling in an Alaskan Bay known for its wildlife.
Before any drilling, there will be scope for studies and public comment said the Interior Department, which stressed the need for energy security.
Home to endangered whales, the Bristol Bay is thought to contain some 200 million barrels of oil.
By lifting the ban in the Bristol Bay, some 5.6 million acres (2.3 million hectares) of land will be open for assessment by the Interior Department.

Before we all get our Pagan panties in a wade, let's think for a moment. Does anyone think that just because Bush opens the area and backs drilling in the Bay that, that is the final word. Of course he backs drilling why should this surprise anyone. And of course this will be challenged just as drilling in ANWR is being challenged.
Democrats and some members of the GOP don't want to see more drilling in Alaska, especially, since the BP nightmare. This isn't a Congress that is going to rubber-stamp every idiot idea that Bush has.
I'm not saying don't worry or don't write to your Congressperson or to stop thinking Shrub is a perfect moron, but stop being such knee-jerk, doom and gloom reactionaries. If you are truly concerned about what is on the table for Alaska do something! Write your Congressperson, start a petition, or join the environmentalist organization for your choice.

Just wanted to thank all those freewheeling pagans and witches that defied reason and voted for Bush, once, or amazingly, even twice! Just apples and oranges, right? Of course, there's a chance you might be reincarnated as a large banana slug. But I don't think they have banana slugs in Alaska, so you might have a long fruitful life.
