Child Sex Case Points To Occult

Author: Marty Roney   Source: Montgomery Advertiser (AL)

Title: CHILD SEX CASE POINTS TO OCCULT

An Elmore County man used witchcraft and the occult to frighten two girls, ages 10 and 15, into having sex with him, authorities say.

Randall Eugene Ransom, 45, of 3004 Kent Road faces two counts of rape and two counts of sexual abuse, Sheriff Bill Franklin said. Ransom lives in the Kent community, halfway between Tallassee and Eclectic. He is in the county jail under bonds totaling $400,000.

"The girls told us they were taken to an abandoned house in the Kent-Eclectic area, where some of the abuse occurred," Franklin said. "They described images of witchcraft and the occult being in the house. They also said other adults were at the house at the time of the abuse. We feel the threat of witchcraft was used to frighten the girls and keep them under Ransom's control. We have received information that a group of adults in the northeast quadrant of the county may be involved in the practice of witchcraft."

Im not saying this guys innocent, just that he hasnt been found guilty yet. Why are people so quick to believe any story involving sex and young girls, but argue black and blue about the discrimination shown (allegedly) against a couple done for driving without a licence. Untill the police have done a proper job, ( a not just spread hear say) , and this guys had his chance to defend himself I wont jump up and down.
Children lie. It happens and this guy might be innocent.

Not One Of Our Own Feb 5th. at 10:53:34 am EST

Here in Alabama, we are very much a diverse community, but one thing that is certain, is that we are also a very interconnected community. Seems that no matter where you go, everyone either knows others you know, or has heard of them. we are both "many" in the sense of being of similar mind, and "few" in the numbers who regularly "out and about" Central Alabama is not well known for its social progressiveness.. because of that, those in our community network well. Seems down this way, everyone practically knows of everyone else. This wretched poser scum is NOT of our communities! No one Ive spoken to has ever heard of him or any such group. It is indeed a terrible shame that these young girls were exposed to such depravity. and I pray that swift and harsh justice is visited upon anyone who would have done anything to them so twisted. There is much concern in our neck of the woods that the effects of this tragedy will be far reaching and chilling. Who amongst us here now cringe at the idea of what might follow should a neighbor finger us as "one of those witches"..........

Occult Shmocult- The Man's Just A Pred. Feb 4th. at 4:43:00 pm EST

Preds are Preds- and what they wear and how they do it matters little to the victim. It is time that these Preds were labeled an as they are- regardless of the trappings.

I Wrote This To The Editor Of The Local Paper Feb 4th. at 3:49:01 pm EST

It is unfortunate that heinous acts were committed against children by persons disguised as Witches. It is for this very reason that many reputable Witches do not come out of the "broom closet." They do not want to be associated with evildoers abusing their proper religious title. Predators are predators, and unfortunately, they will hide behind a loaded social issue that is attractive to their target group. Today, that would be exactly Witchcraft and teens.

While it is the children who suffer most, this hurts us all; those of us who are practicing Witchcraft because it is our sincerely held religious belief, non-Witches who support us, and those who would allow stereotypes to perpetuate because of atrocities such as this one.

There are, most likely, people practicing Witchcraft in the Eclectic area. There are people practicing Witchcraft in communities all across the country. But until all investigations are exhausted, do not rush to judgment on the local Witches. After all, we do not rush to judgment on every Christian man who begins a Bible study in his home simply because of Jim Jones and his People’s Temple.

If your children are interested in Witchcraft, do not punish or shun them. This can drive them into secrecy, and directly into the lair of a predator. Help them find a reputable Witch, and go with them whenever they meet. Any Witch with an honest heart will either refuse a minor altogether, or allow parents to accompany their children on their spiritual quest.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
While I generally agree that Witchcraft is a practice and not a religion in and of itself, when you bring this up in something so short as a letter to the editor (restricted to no more than 250 words) , it just seems to confuse the issue.
Look At The Sheer Numbers Of Child Molestation Feb 3rd. at 9:48:31 pm EST
karrie9 (Kenosha, Wisconsin) - Email Me
Who cares what religion child rapists are? Really!
Child rapists are frequently known to the kids and some of them are even their own relatives -- most of them are not "occult related" because there simply are not that many "occultists" in comparison to the rest of society.
I think the journalists who write headlines like that need to go to sensitivity training and get educated about child rape (and they should call it child rape, not "child sex case") .
Signs Of The Times Feb 3rd. at 4:51:33 pm EST
Finn (San Marcos, Texas) - Email Me
I want to start by reminding my peers that there are witches who are not Wiccans. Witchcraft is not a religion; it is a practice. Or more accurately, it is an umbrella term covering a vast ocean of practices. There are Satanists who practice witchcraft. There are even Christian groups who practice what is clearly witchcraft. The occult finds its way into nearly ever faith and religion practiced today. You cannot "slander" witchcraft. The word is next to meaningless, as is the word "witch" itself.
Without a doubt, people who molest children, rape others, torture, murder, and so on, are defective individuals. I will go one further. I think they are evil. I happen to believe in evil. That doesn't mean they aren't witches. I know lots of evil people. I don't like them, but it is hard to avoid them. We don't get to decide who is and who isn't practicing witchcraft. That is one of the hallmarks of Paganism, Neo-Paganism, Wicca, and so on (ad nauseum) ; it is self determined.
Contrary to what some seem to feel, Christianity (and other faiths) do make the news when someone is caught in a crime in which the faith itself a noteworthy fact. I hear about Christians molesting children far more often than I do anyone else. Clearly there is no conspiracy to conceal such press, while prosecuting Pagans in the court of public opinion. The beliefs of the individual are often part and parcel to the crime. When that is the case, is SHOULD be in the papers.
That we never see headlines like "Child sex case points to Christianity"? The reporting here seems to miss the point that it was a man violating those children, not his beliefs or practices.
Here We Go Again Feb 3rd. at 3:45:45 pm EST
armand (shreveport, Indiana) - Email Me - Web
Yeap here we go again. If something bad happens and the person is in any way got ties to some type of Pagan paraphanalia then lets put it as the headline. First off we are not even sure this person is a "witch" or what. He had candles and bones and an altar. Well alot of Christian places have candles and altars. Maybe he was hungry and had some fried chicken LOL. Who knows. But unfortunately I feel that yes these people were probably involved in the occult somehow. And yes it will come back as negative publicity on all Pagans. That just means we must fight 10 times as hard to erase that negative stereotype.
Maybe it's just my mood but this article gives me a cloying, defeated feeling. It seems like we will never live in a world that has any respect for the religion that I hold so sacred. Tomorrow things will look better - Hopefully.
Yet Again Feb 3rd. at 1:02:36 pm EST
Dee Moonhawk (Florence, Alabama) - Email Me
Yet again, the 'witchcraft' angle is played up as the WORST part of the story, not the fact that some depraved adult molested two girls.
But let's face it, when a Catholic priest molests, a big deal is made out of his office and church, so I guess in the deep south, ANY angle that takes focus over the nice Southern Baptist or Church of Christ molesters is fair game. Gods, I sometimes hate living down south, but it's home.
I feel for the girls, as well as any peaceful, non molesting Pagans or Wiccans that live in the area.
"Bad Enough" Feb 3rd. at 12:42:14 pm EST
Mysteries Child (Garfield, West Virginia) - Email Me
" 'We have received information that a group of adults in the northeast quadrant of the county may be involved in the practice of witchcraft.' "
Personally, I'd be more concerned that a group of adults in the northeast quadrant of the county may be involved in the practice of child molestation. Just me.
"Jessica Sanders lives off Fleahop Road, southeast of Eclectic, and has heard rumors circulating about a group of witches in the area.
" 'I just thought it was the kids telling spooky stories," she said. "I've heard the talk for the past year or so. Lordy, having children abused is bad enough. We don't need this type of thing going on.' "
No-- having children abused is bad. Not "bad enough." I won't say I don't give a damn what kind of trappings abusers employ to perpetrate their crimes...
...but I will say that the implication that witchcraft is somehow worse than child molestation makes me frankly quite ill.
Stay tuned for more comments.
