Westboro Baptist Group To Protest Funerals For School Bus Victims

Author: WBRC-TV Source: My Fox Alabama

Title: WESTBORO HATE GROUP TO PROTEST FUNERALS FOR SCHOOL BUS VICTIMS
The pastor of Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas, Fred Phelps, makes a habit out of protesting military funerals and homosexuals.
Phelps and his group sent out a press release stating their plans to protest the funerals Friday and Saturday in Huntsville because they say, “God hates Alabama and America.”
The religious organization obtained a permit issued by the Huntsville Police Chief on Tuesday to protest near the funerals.

The words I have for Phelps and his 'Christian' group cannot be printed on this forum!
The good news is that while they were given a permit for 45 minutes, the area where they were allowed to set up their protest was so small that it only took two city buses to block them from view. *grin* Don't know whose idea that was, but I applaud them!

When I wrote my first "Hecate's Hit List" entry on my blog -> [Web LINK] , Well, Fred and his WBC topped the list.
The WBC Motley Crew has been to KY several times. Twice I've counter protested them and their Anti-Gay antics.
It maked me angry when I heard about past tragedies. Be them Hurricane Katrina, 9/11, The Madrid Train Bombing, The London Subway Bombing, etc. and these crazies have to transform into their rabid dog modes and bark their diseased "SO-Called" Gospel praising Jehova for the deaths as a result of these events.
And Fred claims that the pickets are "Love Crusades". Some words from a man who considered beating his kids with matock handles and leather straps because his believed Jehova told him too.
And now to picket the funerals of children, this is proof that the WBC has sunk to a new low. The lowest of lows. Circle ten of Dante's Inferno, Forever Frozen In Ice.
While Anubis and Hecate will bless the dead children and greet them with open arms, they won't be so sympathetic to Fred himself.

the side effects of long-term inbreeding will eventually catch up with them. You can already see some signs, like their apparent mental illness and lack of normal thought processes.

I haven't heard their 'argument' in this case, but if I remember correctly, the standard Phelps family outlook is that tolerance towards homosexuality leads to direct and violent punishment by God--in this case, God snuffing out high school students in a bad bus accident. I always thought accidents like this were compelling evidence of no God, or at least a very indifferent Creator. While I think all lawyers are scum, these people are exceptional scum. But talented lawyers, who like many of their brethren are not usually mistaken for humans.

My guess is that the reason people aren't trying to take them to court is that Phelps and most of his family are lawyers...and they're notorious for pressing charges against anyone who threatens their right to hate...

If it makes anybody here feel any better, Fred Phelps and his group have been listed as a Cult here in Canada, and he has been banned from entering our country.
I have no idea why a similar label has not been affixed to his hate-group in the US, since it obviously applies.
But I guess as long as you claim to be ‘Christian’ in the US, anything you say or do is protected by the law. How utterly pathetic.

I know there's nothing that can criminally be done about these freaks of nature, but I can't figure out why, in the wonderfully litiginous US of A, someone hasn't sued Westboro Baptist in civil court. Charge them with something along the lines of causing "grevious emotional distress" and sue them for every penny they have. I know I'd do it. Let's see how much picketing and protesting they can do with no financial support system holding them up.

I have to agree that from that little sound-bite article, I don't see the connection Freddy and his minnions are making between kids dying in a school bus crash and God hating Alabama. Apparently they've gone from the all-too-common belief that AIDS is divine retribution for gay sex to believing that death from any cause is proof that God hates someone. Are they going to start protesting the funerals of octegenarians with signs that say "God hates the Elderly" next?
The only light I see in this situation is that maybe the people who agreed with him when he was busy persecuting gays will start to rethink their stance now that Phelps is showing what a sociopath he actually is.

you know, I've been thinking. I don't approve of xtianity and the catholic church's view on many things, which is why I turned away from those beliefs. So, I think it's not uncommon that many of us would feel similarly about this guy, and his cohorts. However I don't think anyone with any belief system, any religion, would condone the Phelp's behavior in regards to funerals. Their god and jesus, etc. is supposed to promote love, forgiveness, healing, but all I see from this guy is that he breeds total hatred. No question about it. I can't see his association with the Baptist congregation continuting under these circumstances. I may not agree with the catholic church on most issues, but wasn't Mother Teresa, a beautiful person? She was an inspiration to everyone she met. My point is....since he promote just the opposite, he can't possibly be a man of god. I think we should be writing letters to get him disassiciated with the baptist organization! As far as Fox News, waste of time, they enjoy this sort of stuff.

These people are allowed to protest at funerals for those men and woman who have died doing what they believe is right for our country.
I am not saying that our country is always right or just in how we handle things but our soldiers go willingly and some sacrafice all for honor and those Ideals they hold dear.
Has no one noticed that these people live in a compound in alabama these guys are as nuts as the waco texas people were. Why haven't we stopped them.
The fact that they are allowed to defile with their hate propaganda a families time of morning and loss is just sad.

It might not be a nice thing to say, but I would just LOVE to see their compound wiped out in a fire or explosing while they're at one of their little "protests." Maybe then they'd get the hint that "God" doesn't love them as much as they think he does.

referring to Mr Phelps as a pastor and his organization as religious.
"The families live together behind a large fence in a nine home compound in Topeka, Kansas."
Sounds like a Cult to me.
So I think the referances should read "Cult leader Phelps" and his organization called the Westboro "we hate country that feeds and protects us" Cult
I said it once. I'll say it again.
Shameful.
Obsene.
Reprehensible.
Unworthy of the race of Humankind.
We need to specify a seperate breed of humans. The Phelps' diseased.
Well one thing good about his being human. He'll die someday. So will his followers. Perhaps his beliefs wont die so easily, there is always another crackpot to take up the cause, but at least I will have the satisfaction of knowing he'll be dead someday. If I'm still around, I'll make the trip to his funeral and cheer and hold a sign up saying "God Hates Fred Phelps, enjoy your eternity in Hell".
Peace all. Linda

Why aren't the "protests" of this group catagorized as hate crimes? I see little difference between their behavior and the act of burning a cross in someone's yard. Harrassment.
These creeps have got to be the most miserable excuses for human beings on the planet.
